Vacancies: Church Administrator – Leadership Assistant – Intern, St Kea Church : Closing Date 8 Jul

Three exciting opportunities to come and work for St Kea Church

St Kea is an evangelical Anglican church in the heart of Cornwall; four congregations each with a vision to see God transform lives.  We believe God is in the business of seeing lives transformed as we come to know the love of Jesus, trust in His forgiveness and live for Him.

We have four different congregations. 9:30am Sundays, 10.15am Sundays, 10.00am Tuesdays and Old Kea twice a month and these have a real family feel. Ultimately, we long that everyone who lives and works in Truro and the surrounding localities would have the opportunity to receive the gospel from someone who loves them.

Post One: Church Administrator

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with proven organisational and administrative skills to join our vibrant church and dynamic staff team.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Provide consistent and quality administrative support to the church, ministry and support teams working alongside the Strategic Operations Manager and the wider staff team
  • Maintain office systems and co-ordinate church events
  • Provide a key link and support for the church volunteers and church family

The role is well supported, and is part of a close-knit staff team, with monthly supervision, training provision as appropriate, and weekly staff meetings.

As the post is based within a gospel-teaching Christian church, the post-holder will be required to understand and appreciate the Christian faith in order to carry out the role, and a DBS check will be required.

  • Hours:  15 hours per week, across Monday-Friday.
  • Base: St Kea Church Office, TR3 6AE.  (The post-holder can work some hours from home if current restrictions continue and a laptop will be provided for this.)
  • Pay: £10 per hour (£7800 p.a gross)

Post Two: Leadership Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with good organisational and administrative skills to join our vibrant church and dynamic staff team.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Provide consistent support to the Vicar of St Kea, particularly in his role as Rural Dean (RD), and support the local missions of St Kea Church
  • Work alongside the St Kea Strategic Operations Manager to implement the mission vision within St Kea Church and across Truro
  • Assist the Vicar of St Kea (RD) and other CofE churches in Truro in developing communications, systems and events

  • Hours:  10 hours per week, across Monday-Friday.

Vacancies: NHS Volunteer Responders

Your NHS needs you! Join our team today.

NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak. To do this we need an ‘army’ of volunteers who can support the 1.5m people in England who are at most risk from the virus to stay well. Our doctors, nurses and other professionals will be able to refer people in to NHS Volunteer Responders and be confident that they have been matched with a reliable, named volunteer.

You can help by signing up for one or more of the tasks listed below. Once you have registered and checks are complete you will be provided a log-in to the GoodSAM Responder app. Switch the app to ‘on duty’, and you’ll see live and local volunteer tasks to pick from nearby.

This programme enables volunteers to provide care or to help a vulnerable person, which is permitted under the new rules announced by the Government on 23rd March 2020. Volunteers may be asked to show the active task they are responding to if asked.
Your NHS needs you! Join our team today.

Volunteers must be 18 or over, and fit and well with no symptoms. Those in higher-risk groups (including those over 70, those who are pregnant or with underlying medical conditions) will be able to offer support by telephone.

Your safety is our priority. The majority of tasks can be undertaken while social distancing and volunteers will receive guidance through our ‘getting started pack’. If you do become ill you can pause your volunteering.

Patient transport drivers will require an enhanced DBS check and will receive guidance to do this role safely, also included within the ‘getting started pack’.

Here are the ways you can support:

Community Response volunteer: This role involves collecting shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who is self-isolating, and delivering these supplies to their home.

Patient Transport volunteer: This role supports the NHS by providing transport to patients who are medically fit for discharge, and ensuring that they are settled safely back in to their home.

NHS Transport volunteer: This role involves transporting equipment, supplies and/or medication between NHS services and sites, it may also involve assisting pharmacies with medication delivery.

Check-in and Chat volunteer: This role provides short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a consequence of self-isolation.

Vacancy: Food Service Worker, Penryn

Dear All,

Due to the current situation with respect to Coronavirus, we anticipate that the number of clients that will need our help is likely to increase, especially as there may be school closures and parents may have to stay at home and therefore will be unable to work.

We are asking you all if possible to be extra generous with respect to food donations, we are already seeing signs of the shelves being empty of certain items, such as Long Life Milk, Toilet Rolls, Soap etc, and we are trying to pre-empt any shortages in the future.

We are aiming to run normally as long as advice remains favourable, our clients are often very vulnerable and really gain such a lot from the foodbank.

We have a number of volunteers who for various reasons cannot help us out for the foreseeable future with respect to our Thursday opening hours of 2pm until 4pm, therefore we are also requesting that if any of you are willing and able to come to help at the foodbank on Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm then we would be very grateful.

If you are able to offer help, please could you drop us an email foodbank@highwaychurch.co.uk or phone 01326 618575 during opening hours Monday 11am until 1pm or Thursday from 2pm until 4pm.

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
