Exploring Faith

If you are new to Christianity, or returning to it after a long break, there are many resources to help.

Getting Started

A good place to start is the Christian Enquiry Agency, www.christianity.org.uk. This website was originally set up by Churches Together in England and contains thought-provoking, balanced articles about the Christian faith, with sections on What is a Christian? What is the meaning of life? Difficult Questions and much more.

It forms an online encyclopedia of what Christians believe – from Jesus to faith, love, death, sex, suffering and enjoying life to the full.

It offers a confidential email service which will respond to your queries and help you find a local church. You can also find details of churches across Cornwall on our contact page.

Many churches are now providing services online. Click here for our list of online services across Cornwall. Many different styles of worship are available. You can watch anonymously or particpate live via video conferencing.

Courses

If you’d like to explore further, there are plenty of courses, many now operating online:

Alpha Got questions about life? Ask at Alpha. Alpha is a place to ask the big questions of life. Connect with others online to watch a series of episodes and explore the Christian faith together.

Christianity Explored What’s the best news you’ve ever heard? Was it surprising? Did it change the way you think? Or was it something you wanted to be true but didn’t dare hope?

Pilgrim: a course for the Christian journey approaches the great issues of faith through participation in a pattern of contemplation and discussion with a group of fellow travellers.

The Pilgrim Way is a guide to the core beliefs of the Christian faith. Set out in a question and answer format, it follows one of the Church’s very earliest ways of teaching and training disciples.

Prayer

Everyone prays at some time – and everyone thinks they don’t do it right! Prayer is a conversation with God, and there are no right and wrong ways to do it. But there are plenty of helpful guides.

Trypraying is for those who don’t do church. It’s an invitation to begin talking to God. There is a website, a smart phone app and a booklet. Visit the trypraying website to begin your own prayer journey.

The Prayer Course is an eight week journey that will help you and your community to grow and deepen your prayer life.

Discovering Prayer Deepen your relationship with God with guided audio prayer-times.

Light a candle By lighting a virtual candle at this site, you’re making space to pray.
You can light a candle online to pray for yourself, for a loved one or for a situation. Whatever is going on, make space to pray in your life.
