Wadebridge Advent Trail : 3-24 Dec, Wadebridge & ONLINE

We are excited to announce Wadebridge Advent Trail: a community Christmas event with Churches Together in partnership with the Wadebridge and District Hope Initiative.

Every day from the 3rd of December various shops and buildings across Wadebridge will display scenes from the Christmas story. These will be accompanied by videos recorded by a variety of contributors including Concern Wadebridge, Foodbank, St Breock Primary School, Wadebridge Primary Academy and ministers from the local churches. Look out for posters around town and scan the QR code to get started!

You can follow the trail day by day or save them all up for a Christmassy Wadebridge wander with the family. A map is avialable below. You can also follow along at home via our social media accounts.

We’d love to see everyone get onvolved, share your pictures from the trail using the hashtag #wadebridgeadventtrail.

Update 21 Dec: Wadebridge Advent Trail is still live and displays should stay up over the holiday period so you can catch up anytime! Alternatively, here’s a link to the video playlist so you can watch the story from home:…

Launceston: Pulse Bus Youth Project

For the last 10 years Oriel Ministries has been on mission across Devon and Cornwall to address the needs of our young people, giving them a sense of hope, purpose and self-worth. Continuing with this same mission, we are now launching a state-of-the-art mobile youth centre in the form of The Pulse Bus due to arrive 2021.

So often we meet young people who see the church as irrelevant – most don’t even have a concept of what it means to be a Christian or they will have a distorted view. Our vision for the Pulse Bus is to bridge that gap between young people and the church by partnering with local groups, authorities, churches and Christian organisations, aiming to reach our local young people in a new and fresh way.

In so many communities, due to a lack of funding, it can be hard to establish a permanent youth centre to cater for the needs of our young people meaning that they are often congregating out of boredom, causing disruption to the community and being an inconvenience to the police.

We are delighted that Plymouth City Bus have partnered with us on this project by donating a double-decker bus fresh from their fleet. What an amazing thing to do meaning this project has turned from a vision for the future, into a reality of today! It’s so encouraging to see businesses, churches and many others joining us as we launch this exciting new mission into our community.

Here's your chance to have a look at the wonderful donated double decker that will become the Pulse Bus! The are so many ways to get involved just get in touch to find out how! Hear from Chris as he shows us around the bus getting us excited for the next phase of the project. Let's give it one final push to get it kitted out and completed ready for work with our young people this summer!!

Wadebridge Foodbank and StoreHouse

We provide the traditional three days’ worth of  dried and tinned food to local people in crisis need, but also a whole load more: a cup of tea and a listening ear, money management courses and signposting to additional support services. We distribute surplus food from local supermarkets, ready meals from local caterers and manage a crisis fund for heating. In short, we do what it says on the side of our van: restore dignity and revive hope.

With a main hub in Wadebridge and drop-in centres in Bodmin and Camelford, we cover a large area right across North Cornwall.

We will shortly be re-opening our StoreHouse project, accepting donations of furniture and household items that will be given away, completely free of charge, to local people in crisis need, and sold in our shop in Wadebridge to cover our core costs and make our project sustainable.

*** UPDATE *** 18 November 2020

We are excited to announce that we have now moved our Foodbank in Wadebridge to our lovely new premises. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who helped with the move.

However, with all the restrictions in place, this means our Grand Opening and StoreHouse Shop will be slightly delayed and at the moment we are currently unable to accept household donations
but we will keep you posted on future opening dates!

Our new address is Unit 4 Eddystone Road, Wadebridge PL27 7AL (we’re next to J Shoes). Tel. 01208 815374 (please bear with us as we move the phoneline/internet over).

We will be operating our Foodbank from Monday to Thursday 10am-1pm. Any food donations can be dropped off during our opening hours in the trolley at the back of the premises.

Thank you so much for your amazing support!

Launceston Foodbank

All schools and agencies are operating differently due to Coronavirus. If you and your family are struggling due to being self-employed, have been furloughed by your employer, had your work hours reduced or you have been made redundant; then please contact us at Launceston Foodbank to discuss your individual situation: see contact details below.

We are here to help during these uncertain and worrying times.

Our Foodbank was officially opened on 10th December 2011. Over the years since we opened we have moved from opening two mornings a week to now five mornings to accommodate the rising number of local people who find themselves in crisis; we work with just over 80 agencies and groups ranging from local and village primary schools, churches, health visitors, midwives, support workers, social workers, addiction groups to name just a few.

We help people in time of crisis by providing 3 day food parcels when presented with a voucher obtained from one of our Referral Agencies.

In March 2015 we opened our Charity Shop on Newport Industrial Estate (opposite Jewsons). All the profits from the shop goes to ensure we have enough funding to keep the Foodbank open; we do not receive government or council funding so we have to make sure we have reserves in place for the future. We do apply for grants when available and have been very successful; we also receive individual donations from many in the community we. All profit will be used to run our Foodbank and other projects in Launceston we plan for the future.

Please support us either in donating food or items to the charity shop which can then be sold; we accept clothes, shoes, crockery, bric a brac, toys, games, books, puzzles and second hand furniture; unfortunately we cannot accept electrical items.

If you are unable to drop donations to a collection point then please contact us as we are able to collect.

Donations can be dropped at the foodbank during opening hours or via these supermarket donation points:

• Tesco Tavistock Rd, Launceston PL15 9HG

• Co-op Launceston, Newport Industrial Estate, Launceston, PL15 8EX

• Co-op Western Road, Launceston, PL15 7AU

Royal Cornwall Show : 10-12 Sep, Wadebridge CANCELLED

we regret this event has been CANCELLED due to the current emergency

11 May 2020

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and recent updates from the UK Government, it is with great disappointment that the Council of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association (RCAA) has announced the cancellation of the 2020 Royal Cornwall Show that had been planned to take place later this year on the 10th,11th and 12th September.

We have left this difficult decision for as long as we feasibly could, having previously postponed the show from June to September, in the hope that it was possible to stage it then. However, with the current conditions on social distancing and possible Government restrictions on large events for the foreseeable future, it is just not possible to host a safe event for all those involved.
