THE VISION

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done”

What could happen if churches across the South West united together for a weekend to WORSHIP Jesus and pray, SERVE our communities, and invite the region to TRY CHURCH?…

THE STORY

2017 – In 2017 two churches in Plymouth, St Matthias and Mutley Baptist, got together for a night of united worship & prayer – 300 people gathered and God turned up in power.

2018 – In 2018 they felt God nudging them to gather together again to worship and pray but to cast the net wider and invite five of the other largest churches in Plymouth to join them. They all agreed, all 700 tickets quickly sold, and God poured out his power and presence.

2019 – In 2019 they felt God prompting them to cast the net even wider and gather people from across the region not only to worship and pray but then to spend a day serving their neighbours and local communities and invite them to try church. More than 1,500 people filled Plymouth Pavilions for a night of worship and prayer before spilling out into the streets over the rest of that weekend to serve local communities and invite them to church.

2020/21 – In 2020 and 2021 we were hoping to run Love South West with an even bigger bang. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we had to cancel plans due to lockdowns and restrictions. Despite the many hardships across the region and nationally it was inspiring to see the Church across the South West rise to the challenge of social and spiritual needs by praying, providing online church services, and meeting practical needs through food banks, debt advice, counselling and other support. So many people also continued living out their faith courageously as parents, care workers, teachers, nurses, shop assistants, factory workers, business leaders, local councillors – being the light of Christ in the world at a dark and challenging time.

2022 – After spending two years in and out of lockdown it’s been wonderful to see people being able to gather once again physically in churches across the South West. New shoots of life and hope are springing up all around. This year, due to the ongoing uncertainty of event number restrictions, Love South West will operate in our own local settings. Over the weekend of 10-12 June we would love to invite you and your church to run a local ‘Kingdom Come’ evening of worship and prayer on Friday 10 June; a ‘Serve Day’ of social action projects on Saturday 11 June; and a special ‘Try Church’ service on Sunday 11 June. A new season of singing is here!

2023 – Our prayer and plan for Love South West 2023 is to gather churches across the region and across denominations for a united Kingdom Come evening of worship and prayer at Plymouth Pavilions. We then spill back out into our local communities over the rest of the weekend for a ‘Serve Day’ and ‘Try Church’ events.
