This lecture, built upon research undertaken for the Council for World Mission’s ‘Legacies of Slavery’ project, will outline the necessity of deconstructing the problematic history of Christian mission and its relationship to slavery and colonialism, in order to effect a more prophetic and radical proclamation of the Christian faith in contemporary Britain.

The Centre for Theology and Justice is delighted to welcome Anthony Reddie to give our annual David Goodbourn Lecture. Anthony is Director of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture, and a leading scholar in the practice of Black Theology within grassroots communities. The significance of his writings and research is recognised internationally.
