The Reconnection Tour will be celebrating community and connection to bring people together and inspire local activity to reduce isolation.
The stories from the Tour, and from our own experiences in Cornwall, will on one hand turn up the volume on the pain of isolation in the local community by sharing personal stories that challenge thinking and prompt response.
The Tour will also be shining a light on the simple truth that bringing people together makes a difference. Sharing powerful stories of community connection, that can be learnt from, copied and adapted.
Without doubt this is one of the most exciting projects either of us have experienced.
Our current planning is to have an event on June 17 bringing together the experiences of as many community organisations as we can to share with influencers and decision makers whether they be national, county or parish councillors; public sector leaders; the press and many of the networking organisations from around our County. It is likely we will be joined by other people from The Reconnection Tour too.
What are we asking of you right now? At this stage all we need is some indication as to whether your organisation would like to participate in our event on the 17 June. It is likely that at that event there will the opportunity for extensive networking with other colleagues, influencers and the people we support with a ‘mini-exhibition’ of all the voluntary and community groups.
During the day we will also have the opportunity of sharing our experiences with each other, with local media, politicians and others. Those can be through presentations, videos etc and CRCC will assist help put your programme together.
This is not a time to hide your, and your organisation’s light under a bushel, but engage with us, let us be proud in telling how our communities in Cornwall are supportive of each other; let us be open in sharing where our communities have pain and let us celebrate together where our communities are finding solutions and growing together.
