How will your church or Churches Together group deepen interfaith understanding this year?

17 October 2023

Inter Faith Week is led by the Inter Faith Network and is an annual event that aims to make a significant contribution to interfaith understanding, harmony and cooperation.

Each year events are held around the UK, and you can find details of events in your area on the Inter Faith Week website.

Events this year include a church heritage tour in Dudley, a faith covenant annual gathering in Chelmsford, an interfaith scavenger hunt in Derby and a ‘human library’ where people will share their stories in Poole, Dorset.

Thousands will take part directly in Inter Faith Week activities, which are supported by a number of CTE’s member churches and millions encounter the Week’s positive messages through social media. Look out for the hashtag #InterFaithWeek.

Rev Canon Hilary Barber and Narendra Waghela, Co-Chairs of the Inter Faith Network for the UK say:

“The Week makes a significant contribution to tackling ignorance and prejudice, increasing religious literacy, and widening awareness of the contribution of faith communities to society.  It is a force for creation and deepening of interfaith understanding, harmony and cooperation in the UK.”

Inter Faith Week begins on Remembrance Sunday and there is a special encouragement to remember together the service of soldiers and civilians of different faiths and beliefs from Britain and the Commonwealth and to reflect on peace.  Read the special resource on interfaith and remembrance.
