Would you like to be part of a group of local Christians taking action against modern day slavery in Cornwall? Hidden Voices is a new resource from The Clewer Initiative, the anti-slavery arm of the Church of England, designed to help churches and communities respond to Modern Slavery. The training, which builds on a growing national and local body of work by Transformation Cornwall, will include Biblical reflections, case studies, and practical tools and activities. Plus there’ll be contributions from Steve Rowell, Cornwall Council’s Serious Organised Crime Operational Lead, and Naomi Bruce, founder of charity Bringing Freedom.

Over five weeks you will explore the following modules: Setting the scene for action, Detection, Prevention, and Action. Modern Slavery affects an estimated 46.8 million people globally and the number of victims is rising year on year in the UK. In Cornwall there have been 31 reported cases of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking in the last 12 months. What could it look like for churches in Cornwall to join together to raise awareness of modern slavery, protect those who are vulnerable, and welcome the survivors into their communities? We aim to find out. Starting on 4th February 2021, please register your interest at: buff.ly/3lNFfXa.
