Join with churches and Christians across the UK in praying for the media
Love it or hate it, media plays a vital role in our lives. At its best, media gives a voice to the voiceless, holds the powerful to account, and highlights unjust practices while entertaining us and keeping us informed.
As Christians, we affirm and support the media’s vital role in our society. We promote the highest standards in the media, and give our backing to the vast majority of people working in media as they strive for integrity and truth.
From national newspapers to local radio, from websites to specialist publications, from TV networks to blogs, all have a valuable role to play. A thriving global and national media matters to all of us. We want to know about our world, its celebrations, its problems and its joys, and we need a thriving media to help us engage with it.

What We Are Praying For
- For honest, reliable and accurate journalism and programming. In a world where there are claims, counter-claims and disagreements, we need people of integrity who are committed to truth and fairness
- For Christians working in traditional and non-traditional media alike, who care deeply about what is going wrong in society, that they can make content that shines a light on what’s going on.
- For leadership in newsrooms, production companies and all media workplaces, for people who can change the work culture within the media, and for Christians in all positions to help influence change, to stop the exploitation of younger and particularly female staff.
- For Christians in media to become more influential, and for effective discipleship of young people
Who We Are Praying For
- Churches supporting and interacting with national and their local media
- Christian and non-Christian Media professionals (eg print and radio journalists, tv and film producers, directors, editors and writers, advertising and communication specialists)
- Christian groups supporting those who work in and with the media
- Students and young people looking into a career in media, looking for support and advice
How You Can Get Involved
- Help us spread the word – share this video in your churches ahead of and on Sunday 29 October 2023, in small groups and online.
- Invite a Christian working in the media industry to share their experiences and prayers to your church or home group on the Day of Prayer, or ask us for someone who could come and share with you.
- Post your prayers on Twitter and Facebook with the tag #pray4media or share with us by emailing them to hello@christiansinmedia.co.uk and we’ll share with our community
