Co-creating Cornwall’s Future is an online summit to inform, enthuse, and inspire the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector

While the world looks at Cornwall for the G7 Summit, we invite you: our VCSE peers worldwide to join us and help us to co-create Cornwall’s future. We aim for the result of empowering future generations to steward our beautiful natural resources, sustain a thriving economy and remain healthy and well into old age.

The pandemic has highlighted what an indispensable asset the the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector is to our society. Their talents, experience and timely support has equipped individuals and whole communities to overcome adversity during this crisis. Despite one of its most challenging years yet, Cornwall VSF has also played its part through developing and maintaining strategic, thematic and local alliances to help create better conditions for mutuality, altruism and collaboration to thrive.

Our online summit is designed create further opportunities for co-creation across three key themes of work: economy, environment, and health. Holding the event online offers anyone in the sector the chance to actively engage in an inclusive way, so that we hear as many voices as possible on the day.

Dynamic workshops woven with live interviews; inspiring keynote speeches with problem-solving panels; and the inspirational stories of grassroots organisations who have evoked best practice will combine to empower, inspire and connect our communities. The day will culminate in a powerful pledge to work collaboratively for a future all of Cornwall can thrive in. Signing up to this event will allow you to shape it by being there and engaging. Our gift to you is access to our e-brochure souvenir, packed with ideas, talks panels and pledges to help co-create Cornwall’s future.

We are working with an exciting artwork collective to visually portray the event and generate artwork from young people for a legacy street exhibition. Our aim is to ensure the best outcomes for future generations. This event will recognise and celebrate the power and innovation of the VCSE sector through the voices of those in our communities. Together we seek to develop future co-immunities, communities that are resilient, inclusive, safe and prosperous and able to thrive during adversity.

Confirmed speakers include Sir Michael Marmot on The Health Gap, followed by Caroline Dann from Traveller Space, speaking about how to provide meaningful outreach working with minority communities. She will give a recent example of the coordination and delivery of outstanding multi agency work, which was co-created with families. Fresh from the Youth 7 Summit in May, Emily Stevenson from Beach Guardian will be on a panel with Tom Burke CBE to answer questions about local impact on the environment. Emily will lead a workshop to inspire young people to pledge to Clean up Cornwall. Watch this space for the rest of the details, including workshop hosts and other keynote speakers, all hosted by Cornwall VSF’s CEO Helen Boardman.

A series of videos will run throughout the event, along with messages of support from celebrities and prominent figures. There will be interactive polls, activities and breakout sessions. There will also be roving reporters, harnessing support and reaction live from the communities involved.
