Thursday, 3rd March at 9.30 am – 11.30 am via Zoom

If you haven’t heard yet about ‘Net Zero’ within the church, 2022 will probably be the year in which you will be enlightened! In February 2020 the General Synod set a target for the Church of England to reach ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions by 2030. This target is, by anyone’s reckoning, quite a challenge. But it is also one for which there is growing energy and enthusiasm within the church, alongside a growing consensus that it is a non-negotiable part of God’s call to all of us to take good care of creation.

In this session we will look briefly at what is meant by ‘net zero’ and acknowledge its significance within the wider creation care agenda, before considering how best to manifest this call within our own and the church’s Christian discipleship. The session will include a brief overview of key theological themes and of the practical resources that are becoming increasingly available through Diocesan and national church channels.

The session will be led by The Revd Canon Elly Sheard.
