National Sports Sunday (NSS) is an opportunity for the local Church to embrace sports ministry as a powerful means of sharing Christ’s love. Sport is a universal language that fosters connection, community, and transformation. The Church has a vital role in supporting and engaging with this untapped mission field.
On Sunday 11 May 2025, Sports Chaplaincy UK & Ireland invites churches to celebrate and champion the incredible work God is doing through sport and wellbeing ministry (SWM).
To see an expression of God’s love and compassion in every sporting community.
Vision
- Equip local churches to see sport as a dynamic avenue for mission and outreach.
- Encourage engagement in SWM through prayer, acts of kindness, and deepening relationships within sporting communities.
- Support leaders and volunteers in providing spiritual and pastoral care in sport.
Making NSS 2025 More Impactful
This year, the aim is to make National Sports Sunday even more accessible and far-reaching by:
- Providing churches with key resources—service plans, prayers, sermon materials, and outreach ideas.
- Expanding our media presence—working with BBC local radio, UCB, Premier Radio, and social media to inspire and mobilize more people.
- Strengthening our global partnerships—aligning with Global Sports Sunday (21 September 2025) to pray for sports ministry worldwide.
How You Can Get Involved
Sports Chaplaincy UK & Ireland needs passionate partners to help grow this movement. You can support NSS by:
- Raising awareness of sports ministry within the Church and beyond.
- Providing training and best practices to equip churches in SWM.
