World Day of Prayer 2020

World Day of Prayer is a women-led, global, ecumenical movement – in fact, it is the largest ecumenical movement in the world, the only one that is actively embraced by all the Christian traditions – Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical. In this country it used to be called Women’s World Day of Prayer – but this title was misleading as it is not an event for women, but a service for all from (i.e. prepared by) women – in some countries the only opportunity women ever have to highlight and request prayer for the issues that concern them.

This year’s service has been prepared by the Christian women of Zimbabwe, a country which is very much in need of prayers at this time. On the website www.wwdp.org.uk you will find information about Zimbabwe, including an update written only a few days ago.

On 6th March, there will be about 4,000 World Day of Prayer service taking place at different times throughout England, Wales & Northern Ireland, including between 40 and 50 in Cornwall.
