The South West Ministry Training Course (SWMTC) serves the Church by training lay and ordained ministers through formation that is Christ-centred, world-engaging and rooted in local communities. We describe our work as Theology for Living, a focus which combines high academic standards with a commitment to ‘adventurous faith, missional hope and grounded love’. SWMTC has been a key provider of theological formation and teaching in the South West for many years and is well regarded locally and nationally.
The current Principal, Rev Dr Mark Butchers, is retiring this summer and we are seeking an Interim Principal to lead SWMTC for the following 12 months.
The dioceses of Exeter and Truro are currently reviewing the pattern of formation and training needed in the South West for the next 10 years. The outcome of this review, which may or may not affect SWMTC, will not be known until June or July and, whatever they are, will take time to be implemented. We are therefore seeking to appoint a full-time Interim Principal with the wisdom and management experience to lead the organisation during an important review process. The post will operate for a fixed term of up to 13 months beginning in June 2023 and ending on 31st July 2024.
The job description and person specification is available here: Interim Principal jd and the application form can be accessed here: Application form, Interim principal.
Applications must be received by 12 noon on 24 March. Interviews will take place in Exeter on 3 April.
