Vacancy: Independent Chair of Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel and Truro Cathedral Safeguarding Committee: Threemilestone/Working from home : Closing Date 13 Nov

Can you help us continue our vitally important safeguarding journey? This is an opportunity for a confident and experienced leader to help shape culture change around safeguarding provision and practice in the Church of England in Cornwall.

The Independent Chair is a voluntary role that provides leadership of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP) and the Truro Cathedral Safeguarding Committee, helping it to function effectively as it provides strategic oversight to our safeguarding work.

This will involve chairing meetings involving senior clergy and lay representatives of statutory partners, as well as the diocese’s own safeguarding team, and ensuring that the group monitors implementation of action plans.

You will have relevant senior safeguarding experience, with experience of case reviews, risk management and strategic partnerships. An up to date knowledge of safeguarding practice and legislation is essential.

You do not need to be a practising Christian but you do need to have a strong desire and commitment to improving safeguarding practice in the Church of England.

We ask that you commit about 1.5 days per month to the role. We will reimburse you for necessary accommodation and travel expenses, but much of the work can be done from home, especially as meetings are currently online.

If you would like to discuss this role please contact the Head of Safeguarding Sarah Acraman on sarah.acraman@truro.anglican.org.
