Vacancy: Community Engagement Officer, Cornwall Community Flood Forum : closing date 17 Jun

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,579 per annum (this includes £600 essential travel allowance p.a.)
Location: Hybrid

Volunteer Cornwall is a county wide organisation supporting the development of people and communities through voluntary action. An exciting opportunity has arisen to host the following post on behalf of the Cornwall Community Flood Forum.

This position for 37½ hours per week which can be worked flexibly within normal office hours and days. The post holder will work from a combination of home, the Volunteer Cornwall offices and in the community. Therefore, you must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for use during working hours. Mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Cornwall Community Flood Forum (CCFF) is a community-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) committed to supporting communities, households, and businesses at risk of flooding. Although employed by Volunteer Cornwall, the post holder will be on permanent secondment to CCFF and will oversee the day-to-day running and work of CCFF on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the environment and how climate change is impacting our inland and coastal communities vulnerable to flooding. By working for CCFF, you will enable these communities to be better prepared and more resilient.
We are offering this position where hardly two days will be the same. You will be meeting members of different communities across Cornwall, helping them to prepare their flood plans, training their volunteers as flood wardens, and organising CCFF’s annual conference. You will also be working alongside CCFF’s stakeholders: the Environment Agency, South West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, Cornwall Council and South West Water.

The successful candidate will enjoy a flexible approach to working hours, the option to join a pension, a period of shutdown at Christmas and free parking when working from the Volunteer Cornwall head office in Truro.
