Statement from Revd Graham Sparkes, Moderator of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, on
the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II:
“On behalf of the membership of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) I wish to
express our deep sadness at the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and convey our
sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this time of immense loss.
As we mourn her passing we give thanks for an extraordinary legacy. Throughout the decades
of her reign Queen Elizabeth provided exemplary leadership inspired by her Christian faith and
her unfailing sense of duty.
As CTBI we wish to acknowledge in particular her personal commitment and contribution to
peace and to the healing of relationships, which has inspired people across these islands and
beyond to continue and deepen the work of reconciliation and building a better future for all.”
