New Chief Executive for St Petrocs Appointed

,

St Petrocs has appointed Henry Meacock as its new Chief Executive. Henry takes up the post succeeding Steve Ellis, who has stepped down after 20 years in the role.

Henry spent the initial part of his career in the private sector based in the Northwest before relocating to Cornwall in 2012 where he moved into social housing work. He became a trustee and treasurer of St Petrocs in 2014, before joining the charity on a full-time basis as Director of IT, Data Analytics and Environmental Strategy in early 2020.

On accepting the role, Henry said, “It is an honour to take up the position of Chief Executive of St Petrocs. The charity was founded, all those years ago, based on a set of values that remain as strong today as they ever were. The trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters are all committed to ending homelessness in Cornwall and it is a privilege for me to lead them in this pursuit.”

“It is unacceptable that homelessness remains an issue in our modern society. St Petrocs will continue to be there for people in their hour of need, but we will also look to influence the more substantial change that is required to put an end to homelessness in the county.” Henry Meacock

Speaking about the appointment, Chair of Trustees, John Cousins said: “I am delighted to welcome Henry to the role of Chief Executive at St Petrocs. He demonstrated a commitment to the values of the organisation throughout the selection process and we, as a board of trustees, are confident in his determination to stand up for the rights of the people we support.

“I would like to take the opportunity to express our enormous gratitude for everything that Steve Ellis has done for people facing homelessness in Cornwall since he joined St Petrocs in 1999. Steve has led the charity with the utmost integrity and personal commitment. There are very few people who display Steve’s knowledge, expertise and compassion in supporting people who are facing homelessness.” John Cousins

“Steve has placed St Petrocs and the cause of homelessness at the heart of the community in Cornwall. This has resulted in a great improvement in the lives of many thousands of people over the years.

“We are delighted that Steve will continue his involvement with St Petrocs in the role of Vice President.”
