Moderator on the Move

Rev Ruth Whitehead, moderator of the South Western Synod of the URC, member of the Churches Together in Cornwall Executive and current chair of Churches Together in Devon, will be moving on to a new ministry challenge in 2023. She has been called by the Landsker Pastorate (6 small chapels in Pembrokeshire) to be their minister.

She writes, “After almost ten busy years in the Synod a call from God came out of the blue and led me to discern a call to this pastorate, which I received in mid November.

“There are so many people and places here I will miss, and I have been truly grateful for so many wonderful colleagues and faithful churches. As I leave, in March, I will carry with me a deep love for the people and places of the South Western Synod, and I promise that just over the Bristol Channel there will always be someone praying for you all.”

The process to find a new moderator will begin in the New Year and the synod will be in the capable hands of staff and committees for whom Ruth asks for prayers in the intervening period of vacancy, as they seek to discern God’s direction for the future.

CTC will very much miss Ruth’s support as a truly committed ecumenist and we wish her well in her future ministry and all that lies ahead.
