The UN International Day of Peace (21st September) and Peace Sunday (24th September) are just around the corner. Both are brilliant opportunities to pray and act for peace, and to open up conversations about peacemaking.
We’ve created a wide range of resources for you to use throughout this time, which you can find here. Below is a guide to everything we have in store for you:
Peace Sunday resources
If you would like to mark Peace Sunday in your worshipping community, we have prayers which you can use. One is Archbishop Justin’s prayer for the International Day of Peace (going live on 21st September). The other is a set of longer prayers, focusing on different aspects of the need for peace in the world, available to download.
Reconciliation Q&A with Archbishop Justin
A wide range of brilliant people have sent in their peace and reconciliation questions to Archbishop Justin. We’ll be sharing short films of these questions and Archbishop Justin’s answers throughout the coming week – on social media and on our resource page.
Reflections on the International Day of Peace
The theme for this year’s International Day of Peace is ‘Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals’. This refers to UN’s the Sustainable Development Goals (or ‘Global Goals’) which aim for all people to enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. We will be releasing a series of thought pieces next week to enable you to go deeper with this theme.
Join Archbishop Justin to read the Bible
On Monday 25th September, Archbishop Justin will be reading the Verse of the Day on the Bible App (from YouVersion). You can watch the short film and then go deeper with a three-day Bible plan exploring the habits of being curious, being present and reimagining. We’ll send you out the links for these when they go live, so keep an eye on your inbox!
