The planet is in ecological crisis: we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced. Scientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an unprecedented global emergency. Our children and our nation face grave risk.

Do you wonder what Climate & Ecological emergency means for you, your family, friends and community? Here is the chance to find out !

Falmouth Town Council and Penryn Town Council have both declared a Climate Emergency this year, as have Cornwall Council and Parliament. Extinction Rebellion (XR) is growing in Falmouth, across Cornwall, nationally and globally.

What can our towns do ? How will our community show leadership in Cornwall and beyond? XR and Falmouth Town Council are working together to reach the widest possible audience.

In this public talk, Exeter University’s Professor of Climate and Environmental Change Stephan Harrison and Manda Brookman of Cafe Disruptif will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change, and offer us the chance to consider together possible ways forward through the study of social movements.

Everyone is welcome and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion afterwards. Entry is free but please, if you can, donate towards the venue hire costs and travel expenses for the speakers.
