Quaker/Plum Village (Thich Nhat Hanh) Interfaith Open Call for Peace and Ceasefire

Many of us are deeply saddened by the growing destruction of human life in the wars beings waged around us and the growing violent reprisals in response. The war in Palestine and Israel have shaken us, giving rise to grief and rage. Our faiths and spiritual practice reminds us that these emotions need compassionate care to prevent them from becoming retaliatory violence or demonising others.

Many groups have engaged in compassionate and humanitarian calls for peace, for an end to the widespread loss of life, starvation and displacement of Palestinian life, for the return of the Israeli hostages, release of unjustly detained Palestinians, and for humanitarian support for the impacted Palestinian communities in Gaza, Israel and all occupied territories.

Recent actions for peace and ceasefire have included people of faith, however no single unified intentional faith action has manifested. We, Plum Village Buddhist Community (Followers of Thich Nhat Hanh) and the Quakers, have come together in a heart-felt desire to spearhead and unify all faiths and spiritual traditions in an action call for peace. Our collective, unified action as people of faiths is a powerful statement and testament of our faith’s spiritual ethical framework to love, cherish life and live in peace and harmony.

We invite you, as faith representatives and practitioners, to attend an open meeting on the Thursday, 14th December, 7pm-8:30pm GMT to hear more about the proposed interfaith peace action, share input and understand how best you/your faith organisation may choose to engage.

Please register your interest using the booking link.

Please do share this to other faith contacts who may wish to engage in this collective action calling for ceasefire and pursuit of non-violent actions to broker reconciliation, just and peaceful sustainable solutions to conflicts and wars.

In care and trust.
