What Youโll Learn
Build an inclusive culture
Explore how you can go beyond simply writing policies to create a culture where everyone is welcome. Weโll look at different techniques leaders can use to support staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Work collaboratively with different groups
Communication is key to ensuring people feel well supported and involved. Together weโll discuss a variety of approaches to promoting inclusivity and how these may been to be changed and adapted over time.
Understand your legal obligations
Weโll look at what the law has to say about protected characteristics and the impact this will have on the way you work with beneficiaries, staff and volunteers. This will include exploring the policies and procedures youโll need to develop to promote inclusivity.
Explore occupational requirements
You may develop a role that has an occupational requirement for someone to have a particular characteristic. For example, if you run a womenโs shelter you may need to recruit female staff. Weโll look at how you go about drafting job descriptions that support your ministry in the best way and meet the legal requirements.
