A season of Prayer: November 2020

Thursday 5th November – Wednesday 2nd December 2020

In this time of continuing global pandemic, of national and international crisis and at the beginning of a second national lockdown, our archbishops and bishops have called us to a month of prayer and (if appropriate for us and however we may choose to do it) fasting.

There are resources available from the national Church to help us day by day. You can access those resources here and a prayer booklet is available here. But here in the Diocese of Truro, we shall also post something each Thursday to help inspire our prayers for one another, for this county of Cornwall and for our suffering world.

Now is not the time to give up, but – no matter how weary or discouraged we may be feeling – to keep on keeping on.  Now is the time to be reaching out for and clinging on to God in faith and hope and trust as perhaps never before.  He is faithful.  He is with us.  God is our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in time of trouble.
Let us pray …

Psalm 42

Why, my soul, are you downcast?Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,my Saviour and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon – from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
