The Government is testing the UKโs Emergency Alerts system again on Sunday, 7 September at 3pm. Emergency Alerts is a UK government system that provides warning and advice in a life threatening emergency. The government does not need to know your phone number or location to send you an alert.
What happens when you get an emergency alert?
Your mobile phone or tablet may:
- make a loud siren-like sound, even if itโs set on silent
- vibrate
- read out the alert
The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds. If you have a church service or event that day, you may want to let your congregation know so they are prepared and are not concerned by the alert. For more information and advice, visit the GOV.UK website.
