Towards Zero Suicides Event : 7-11 Sep, ONLINE

Each year in Cornwall we hold an event to bring together our community to think about the ways we can each support our ambition for zero suicides in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  This year, of course, things are happening a little differently in all areas of our lives and our mental health and wellbeing have never been more important.

Nationally we are hearing that many areas have cancelled their plans for a Towards Zero event this year.  Here in Cornwall we have decided to not only forge right ahead with plans for an event (held digitally), but we have extended it to a whole week’s worth of online workshops.  Our event is being held over the week Monday 7 – Friday 11 September 2020. Each day has a different theme, and on the final day there will be a local panel who will be ready to take questions from the audience.  These questions can be submitted in advance to suicideprevention@cornwall.gov.uk with TZ in the subject.

Links to book your tickets and themes for the week:

Monday: Safety Planning

Tuesday: Children and Young People

Wednesday: Physical Activity

Thursday:  Hope

Friday: Cornwall suicide prevention work update – what’s been happening, and exciting new projects.  Local panel of professionals and people with lived experience to answer any questions you may have.

To book your place on any of our free workshops, please do this via the links above, on the days listed above and you will be sent a link to the event.

We would love for as many people to attend these workshops as possible to learn about how you can be involved in suicide prevention, how to support a friend or family member, and how to help break down the stigma around suicide.

We will be recording each of the workshops and uploading them so that even if you’re not able to attend on the day, you will still be able to view.  Further information about how and where to find them online to follow.

Please encourage your friends, colleagues and family to sign up to this newsletter to stay informed on the crucial work taking place in Cornwall.

We hope to see many of you (virtually) next week!
