We believe that human flourishing is not simply the absence of poverty. What human communities need, and what human life demands, is the kind of development that enables people to thrive not just survive.
The double crisis of climate change and Covid-19 is compelling everyone involved in international development – governments, international institutions, the private sector and civil society – to think afresh about poverty, its causes and effects, and what it will take to end it. This report is one contribution towards that rethink, rooted in the experience of working over the last 75 years alongside people in poverty.
