Jake Clifford, Head of Church Engagement writes:
Today, we give thanks for the news of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas – a long-awaited step towards ending the devastating conflict that has caused so much suffering in Gaza and across the Middle East.
Tearfund’s partner, Anera, is already working with the most vulnerable and is ready to scale up quickly once supplies are allowed in. Our partner, International Health Partners, has vital medical supplies close to the border which must be allowed immediate access. Whether your church has donated or prayed with us, we’re grateful for the support you’ve given that’s allowing our partners to respond to those most in need.
Yet the need is still vast. In Gaza, more than half a million people are now in famine, and more than 54,600 children are acutely malnourished. We expect that the ceasefire will allow increased access for aid to enter Gaza, but each new hour without life-saving food, water and medical supplies means more lives will be lost.
Please encourage your church to pray for lasting peace, for Israel to allow a flood of aid to freely enter Gaza, and for the hostages to be allowed home.
Your church can also give to Gaza and Middle East Appeal to help provide life-saving aid to people in Gaza and the wider region. You can order Gift Aid envelopes by emailing info@tearfund.org.
Please pray with us
Like you, we believe prayer makes a huge difference. Please join us in prayer for peace to reign in Gaza and the Middle East. Our prayer slides will guide your church in prayer in the coming days.
