Affiliated to the Trussell Trust based in Salisbury, Highway Church and other Christian supporters from Penryn and Falmouth have set up a Foodbank to provide emergency food for those who find themselves in an unexpected crisis.
The most common causes of crisis are benefit delays/cuts, sickness and low incomes. Clients can be referred from their support worker, doctor and various other multi agencies within the community. However we do welcome calls from those who wish to know if they are eligible to receive food.
The Foodbank is based in Highway Church in Penryn, and run by a group of dedicated volunteers from within the community.
Distribution opening hours :
Mondays 10am-12noon
Thursday 10am-12noon
Both our sessions include access to external support agencies, with Citizen’s Advice in most sessions, Cornwall Housing, Shelter and Job Centre disabilities advisor are available on a monthly rotating basis, and our Thursday session includes the provision of a hot meal.
