A prayer for Holocaust Memorial Day
Thurs 27 Jan 2022

The ‘One Day’ Prayer

Eternal God, you hold all of our days in your hands.

On this day, we come before you to remember the victims of the Holocaust.

We lament the loss of the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust, the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution, and other genocides.

May our minds be clear and attentive to their memory and our hearts be moved to bear witness to their lives.

Today, help us to remember and recognise the sanctity of each human life, that all people are made in Your image.

One day, we pray that genocide and hatred will be no more, and that love will triumph over evil.

In our prayers and in our actions, help us to show this love in the world today.
Amen.

This was the final hymn sung in the final service in Falmouth Methodist Church on Sun 16 Jan following its sale – a message of hope as the congregation seek a new permanent home. In the meantime by kind invitation of Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr they will be worshipping in the KCM church hall in New Street – an excellent example of ecumenism in action!

The Work of Christmas
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others,
To make music in the heart.
