Bible Society’s Psalm 23 Garden wins gold at Chelsea

Psalm 23 Garden

Sarah Eberle’s Psalm 23 Garden is a garden for our time, a garden for a pandemic. The famous psalm speaks of God’s presence with us in all moments of life. Sarah’s garden, designed for Bible Society, takes us on a journey through the psalm to a restful destination. We hope it will resonate with you, and that you’ll be inspired to create your own Psalm 23 community garden.

Bible Society’s Psalm 23 Garden won a gold award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show – but not content with that, we also won two other awards – Best Construction and Best Sanctuary Garden. The awards represent a triumph for designer Sarah Eberle and garden builder Mark Gregory, whose skilful use of huge rocks, drystone walling and a waterfall so impressed the judges. They also represent more recognition for the theme of the garden and for the way it embodies Psalm 23 with its imagery of green pastures, quiet waters and a journey through life to an eternal home.

Bible Society volunteers have been at the Garden talking to visitors, who have been lavish with their praise, and eager to explore the themes of the psalm.

How you can get involved

After a long, isolated year, why not come back together by creating a community garden on the theme of Psalm 23? You’ll be creating a beautiful place for everyone (and wildlife) and have the chance to reflect on the psalm. You can do this anywhere. You don’t even need a garden, though it helps.
