Downing Street has this morning announced that the next Bishop of St Germans is to be the Revd James Treasure.

James was ordained as a priest in 2017, having previously served as a leader in a free church before returning to the Church of England. He brings experience in community engagement and in supporting growing congregations.
Since 2018, James has served as Vicar and Resource Church Leader at St Thomas and St Luke’s in Dudley (known locally as “Top Church”). During this time, he led a significant redevelopment and mission project, supported by grant funding, to restore the Grade II* listed building and strengthen outreach across the parish.
In 2023, he was appointed Team Rector for the wider Dudley parish, taking on responsibility for four additional churches alongside his existing role.
James is married to Esther, who is a curate, and they have three young adult sons.
Speaking about his new role, James shared that he is looking forward to joining the Diocese of Truro and getting to know its churches, communities, and ministry.
The Bishop of Truro, the Rt Revd David Williams, welcomed the appointment, noting the experience and gifts James brings in pastoral ministry, preaching, and leadership. He also expressed his delight that James and his family will be joining the diocese later this year.
James and his family are expected to move to Truro in the spring. His consecration as a bishop will take place on 1 May at St Paul’s Cathedral, London. He will be formally welcomed to the diocese at a service in Truro Cathedral on 10 May at 4:30pm. All are welcome to attend.
