The BRF Messy Church team has shared a celebratory review of 2025, highlighting a year marked by community growth, international collaboration and fresh initiatives in intergenerational ministry.
Key achievements include:
- Celebrating 21 years of Messy Church ministry and an expanded team welcoming new members in spring 2025.
- National and international engagement — including visits to local Messy Churches, two trips to Lambeth Palace, and radio broadcasts sharing the Messy Church story.
- The 2025 Messy Church Conference, which brought together 161 participants from 14 countries. Highlights included international worship, multilingual Bible readings, outdoor “Messy Church Goes Wild!” sessions, young leaders contributing to planning, and joyful fellowship under a eucalyptus tree.
- Launching the Messy Momentum Youth Project, designed to better engage older children and young people. Activities in 2025 included listening sessions with young people and leaders, a two-day innovation workshop, and training for leaders in new youth ministry approaches.
- Growth in the Messy Church network, with 1,840 churches listed on the directory and 122 new Messy Churches joining during the year. Funding and support have enabled 11 microgrants for churches starting Messy Church in areas of deprivation, and strengthened ecumenical links across denominations and nations.
- New and updated resources, including Messy Togetherness with a new chapter, Get Messy! vol. 3, and all-age discipleship material produced with Parenting for Faith.

The team also acknowledged the vital contribution of volunteers, supporters and prayer partners, and emphasised that reflecting on “where God has been at work” helps shape future ministry priorities. Looking ahead to 2026, the focus remains on supporting Messy Churches through regional hubs, ongoing training, and deepening connections across the global network.
