Following our ‘Strengthening VCSE engagement with the ICS’ event on Tuesday, we have created this as a summary for those unable to attend. It might also be a recap if you did.

Our aims and objectives of this event were to introduce colleagues to the new Integrated Care System, and connect the amazing work of the voluntary sector as a whole, with the healthcare system.

As our Chair of Trustees mentioned in his speech, we did this by leveraging funding, to build capacity within the sector. Cornwall VSF was part of identifying organisations to benefit from Contain Outbreak Management Funding (COMF) and we will share details of our new strategy soon.
At the beginning of her time in Cornwall VSF, our CEO Helen Ball consulted with the sector to take your ideas into the Levelling Up strategy. Since then, Cornwall VSF has ensured that the VCSE sector is at the heart of the new Integrated Care System. We invited colleagues from this system to share their vision and set the scene for you on Tuesday. We then took all of the collateral created in the event over to the True North two-day conference.
At this event, Helen represented the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. She contributed to shaping a strategy to ensure our communities are connected, healthy and caring.
Today marks an important milestone on our journey to make Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly the best place to be born, live and to grow old. For nearly 10 years our NHS and local authorities have been working closer together to ensure people receive joined-up health and care services, when they need it.
From today, Friday 1 July, our commitment to working together is formalised by becoming Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System (ICS). Our ICS brings together our NHS, local authorities, voluntary sector, and independent providers to improve people’s experiences of health and care services and reducing health inequalities at a local level, to ensure everyone has the same access regardless of where they live.
The VCSE is placed to sit in the heart of this system. You are getting the recognition you desrve for connecting to our communities’ caring nature and improving our overall health.
