Vacancy: Christians Against Poverty Debt Coach, Truro : closing date 25 Aug

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for working with those in debt and for sharing the Christian faith.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Support clients on their journey to becoming debt free through home visits and ongoing support
  • Work alongside our CAP Centre Manager to support the work of the centre
  • Maintain accurate record systems and co-ordinate with CAP volunteer
  • Positively reflect the Christian faith and the core values of Christian Against Poverty

The role is well supported, and is part of a close-knit staff team, with monthly supervision, training provision as appropriate, and regular staff meetings.

St Kea is an evangelical Anglican church in the heart of Cornwall; four congregations each with a vision to see God transform lives.  We believe God is in the business of seeing lives transformed as we come to know the love of Jesus, trust in His forgiveness and live for Him. 

As the post is based within a gospel-teaching Christian church, the post-holder will be required to understand and appreciate the Christian faith in order to carry out the role, and a DBS check will be required as the post-holder will be working with vulnerable adults.

Hours:  8 hours per week, across two four-hour sessions. Working days are negotiable.

Base: Variable depending on client locations. Desk space is available at St Kea Church Office, TR3 6AE.  (The post-holder can work from home and a laptop will be provided for this).

Pay: £10 per hour (£4160p.a gross)

Training and commitment: funded training for this role is provided by the central office of Christians Against Poverty. As this training involves a cost to St Kea, we require the successful candidate to commit to the post for a minimum of two years. The training will be taking place during 01/11/21 – 03/12/21 lasting approximately 50 hours. All training to be taken during this time (all online with a mixture of live training and training to be undertaken at a convenient time for the delegate.

This post is initially funded for two years with the expectation that funding will continue after this time.
