Projects that address local housing need & are building community in the process.
Each year, Cinnamon invites ambitious church-based projects that want to replicate their work across the country to enter the Cinnamon Project Lab competition.
This year, we’re looking for church-based projects supporting local people with housing needs and building community, working in partnership with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Commission on Housing, Church and Community.
Two competition winners will receive a £30,000 development grant each, and there are up to five places available on the Cinnamon Project Incubator (use the link to find out more)
The types of project that will be considered include:
- Tenancy training
- Housing advice and advocacy
- Mentoring and befriending
- Hosting or hospitality
- Resident engagement
- Community self-help
- Supported accommodation
- Co-living schemes
- Temporary use of empty properties
Projects will need to submit an online application form and a 60 second video. Following this, five projects will be selected to go through to the Project Lab Final, where they will pitch their project against others.
Broadly speaking, projects that wish to apply should be:
- responding to a social need;
- simple and replicable;
- have a good track record;
- church-sized;
- bold and want to grow; and
- well led.
We’re really looking for great social action projects that are passionate about sharing their work. They might not yet be the finished article, but they must have great potential to be replicated through churches across the country.
The deadline to enter the Cinnamon Project Lab competition is 5pm on Monday 20 April 2020, with the final taking place later this year.
